Fotoperiodismo / Elizabeth Dalziel: «Female terracota soldiers»

.

B eijing, 26/02/2007. A Chinese woman walks amongst a terracotta army made up entirely of women and children at 798 Space, a gallery in Beijing's trendy art district, China Saturday. The exhibition by Norwegian artist Marian Heyerdahl consists of female terracotta warriors modeled after China's famous Terracotta soldiers in Xian, capital of northwest China's Shaaxi Province. Heyerdahl reverted the gender of the soldiers to reveal the historical role and status of women, as well as issues on the unrecognized dominant state of women in society. The exhibition opened on Sunday (AP/The Seattle Times).
