Bolivia 12/4/2007.- Workers burn nearly 33 tons of coca leaves grown illegally in the village of Huaculi, central Bolivia. After nearly two years in office, Bolivia's president Evo Morales, who is also leader of a coca grower's group, hasn't accomplished the goal of keeping the production of coca leaf under levels established by Bolivian law, which allows for the legal cultivation of only 12,000 hectares of coca. Coca leaf is a sacred, traditional plant to the Andes' indigenous people, but also the raw material for producing cocaine. (AP)
