A soldier from 42 Commando British Royal Marines sits alone as he opens a present, sent to him by family members at the forward operating base in Kajaki, in southern Afghanistan, Thursday. Kajaki base was set up in Dec. 2006, to provide security for the the Kajaki Dam project. (AP)
