Fotoperiodismo / Gemunu Amarashinghe: «Novice Buddhist monks»

.

Anuradhapura, 02/01/2007.- Novice Buddhist monks participate in their ordination ceremony, Samanera, in Anuradhapura, about 110 miles northeast of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Thursday. Although the minimum age to be ordained as a Buddhist monk is 20 years, boys under that age are allowed to be ordained as novices. Novices shave their heads, wear yellow robes, and observe ten basic precepts. Buddhists constitute about 68 percent of Sri Lanka's population.
