Radio / Freddy Fender: Cuatro canciones

Radio Rancho Las Voces recuerda al hoy finado FREDDY FENDER... Con cuatro canciones y un sentimiento de gratitud... En radio Rancho Las Voces... un pequeño homenaje..

Freddy Fender - Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

Freddy Fender, born Baldemar Huerta in San Benito, Texas on June 4, 1937, is a Tejano, country, and rock and roll musician, known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados.

In 1959, Fender recorded "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." The song became popular in 1959, but he was beset by legal troubles after he and a band member were arrested for narcotics possession. After a two year prison term, Fender ended up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he would spend the next five years.

Texas Tornados & Freddy Fender - Who Were You Thinkin' Of

Texas Tornados are a Tejano band. Their music is a fusion of Rock, Country and various Mexican styles. The initial combination of this set of very talented musicians happened almost by chance at a concert performance of a mutual acquaintance. After Freddy Fender, Flaco Jimenez, Augie Myers, and Doug Sahm engaged in this musical extravaganza in front of a San Francisco audience, they all knew the genuine bond they felt in their music could probably be taken to another level. After they performed as the Tex-Mex Revue initially, they took the title 'The Texas Tornados'.

Freddy Fender - Before The Next Teardrop Falls

In 1974, Fender recorded "Before The Next Teardrop Falls." The single was selected for national distribution, and became a number one hit on the Billboard Country and Pop charts. His next four singles, including a remake of "Wasted Days", all hit the number one spot on the Billboard Country charts.

Freddy Fender - Jambalaya

"Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" is a song credited to Hank Williams, released in 1952, other artists who have performed the song include Emmylou Harris, who included it in her 1976 album Elite Hotel, Moon Mullican, The Carpenters, John Fogerty, Brenda Lee, Lucinda Williams, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Residents, Dolly Parton, and Tommy Funderburk (appearing in the film Steel Magnolias), among many others. International, translated or derived versions do exist at least in Dutch, Italian, Polish, German and Estonian.
